Windows 7's PC Safeguard sandboxes user accounts

One of the first pieces I wrote when I joined Download Squad covered Microsoft SteadyState, a free application that caches changes to your operating system and can remove all traces of them on rebooting. Now it looks as though that functionality will be part of the Windows 7 core - with one major improvement.

Whereas SteadyState will lock down your entire system, PC Safeguard can be configured on a per-user basis. Making changes under SteadyState can be a bit cumbersome and usually requires at least one reboot. With PC Safeguard, you've got two options. First, you log off the protected user and log in with your administrative account.

Why Oil Price Is High - Fed Printed Way Too Many Dollars

The two biggest factors in oil’s high price are the weakness in the U.S. dollar’s exchange value and the liquidity that the Federal Reserve is pumping out. The 20 Unhealthiest Drinks in America

Americans have a drinking problem, and not the type you might think. As the authors of the best-selling book Eat This, Not That!, David Zinczenko and co-author Matt Goulding get e-mails all the time from readers who claim they eat carefully, they work out consistently, but they still can't get the needle on the scale to budge. "What gives?" goes the collective, exasperated refrain from the stagnant dieter.

What most people don't know is that the biggest roadblock between you and the body you want isn't found at the end of a fork, but at the bottom of a glass. As a country we take in 21 percent of our daily calories from beverages and, according to the FDA, the average American takes in 82 grams of added sugars every day. That's 20 teaspoons, which contribute an empty 317 calories to our already calorie-saturated diets.

Oil and Food Push Consumer Prices Higher in May

Inflation hit hard in May as prices for a wide swath of consumer goods rose at their fastest pace since November, underscoring warnings from central bankers and adding to a growing consensus that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates by the end of the year.

The Consumer Price Index, which measures prices of a batch of common household products, rose 0.6 percent last month, with much of the increase coming from high fuel costs. The nationwide average for gasoline topped $4 a gallon last weekend as the price of oil reached record levels.

The rising cost of gas is affecting every aspect of our lives today. From prices in Food, to the Interest rates you are getting from the banks, to the Housing industry being in a slump. When people can barely afford to pay for the gas they need and the food they need to put on the table what is this damn world coming to. Congress needs to get off their ass and do something now, instead of letting these damn people rape us. Ok, enough of my rant. Thanks for hearing me.

How to fit 1TB of data on one CD-sized disc - 1000GB = 20 times the size of a dual-layer Blu-ray disc

Blu-ray and HD DVD have pushed the limits of optical storage further than anyone thought possible. But a new technology has emerged which makes Blu-ray's 50GB capacity look tiny. Mempile in Israel says it's able to fit an incredible 1TB of data onto one "TeraDisc" which is the same size as CDs and DVDs. That's 20 times the capacity of a maxed-out dual-layer Blu-ray disc.

The incredible capacity achieved using this new technology is made possible by employing 200 5GB layers, each one only five microns apart. The discs are completely transparent to the red lasers which are used in the associated recorder.

It warned that the current spike in global food prices was higher than previous records, partly because bad weather had ruined crops.

Although high prices will ease off, other factors, such as rising biofuel demand, will keep future costs high.

The FAO said speculators were also to blame for volatile commodity markets.

Saving the Internet . . you bet Im gonna get involved . .
So . . No suprize her that Corporate America wants to control

how much internet you get, at what cost, and profits galore. Do we
really want to see them get filthy rich like the oil companys - Exxon Mobil,
Chevron & Conoco Philips. Didnt they rip us off enough, do we want to let
the Cable and Phone industries do the same to us. Well, if we sit back and do
nothing guess what will happen. They got money and lobbyist who sit in Congress and persuade our representatives that its a good idea to give control to them. In conclusion, I offer a couple website I found that give more information and offer a means of contacting your local Congressman on your behalf. Linux Shootout: 7 Desktop Distros Compared

In the last couple of years, desktop-friendly Linux distributions have taken enormous leaps -- they're easier to install, better maintained, and more powerful than ever before. There's also that many more of them -- which means that many more possibilities to sift through.

In this roundup I've looked at seven Linux distributions, all mainly aimed at desktop users. Some ought to be household names; some are less widely sung but still worth looking at. All are meant to be top-of-the-line, "throw-and-go" distros for general use, so I paid careful attention to how they behaved on a fairly broad range of hardware -- how display, networking, or other default configurations were set to behave both out of the box and after an update (if one was available).

1 - openSUSE
2 - Ubuntu 8.4
3 - PCLinuxOS
4 - Mandriva Linux One
5 - Fedora
6 - SimplyMEPIS
7 - CentOS 5.1.
