As of yesterday, AT&T allows you to drop the $20/month data/EDGE feature from your iPhone plan. If your EDGE coverage sucks or you work around WiFi, keep your minutes and ditch the data. You lose Visual Voice Mail but you still qualify for Apple tech support and 2-Year warranty coverage.
